Middle School / Grade 6 to 8

The ISH Middle School

Welcome to the ISH Middle School.  This program within the secondary school building is a dynamic part of the ISH Community. Energy is the resource that adolescents and teachers can harness to make a memorable and impactful time with us in grades 6 through 8.

What makes the MS great at ISH? - The Students!

Academic Curriculum:

ISH offers AERO standards in grades 6-8. AERO is a project supported by the U.S. State Department’s Office of Overseas Schools and the Overseas Schools Advisory Council to assist schools in developing and implementing standards-based curricula.

AERO offers a robust framework fostering curriculum consistency, ensuring stability in the educational experience across overseas schools. Leveraging AERO's wealth of resources, workshops, and professional consultation services, ISH empowers its educators to seamlessly integrate and sustain standards-based curricula. This commitment aligns with global trends in curriculum development, backed by research. Join us on a journey of educational excellence with ISH and AERO standards.

Students at ISH adhere to an 80-minute block schedule, providing them with extended periods to delve deeper into unit modules within various academic disciplines such as Math, Science, Humanities, English, Physical Education, and Languages (French/Spanish). This structure allows students to actively engage in constructing, testing, and formulating their own understandings. Additionally, all students actively participate in a dynamic Music and Visual Art program.

Students in middle school make outstanding contributions and shape their own school life at ISH, this is made evident in the strong participation numbers by our students in the many opportunities made available to them. Learning is not restricted to the academic setting, and this is why students in the MS are also involved in our homeroom program. The homeroom program incorporates health and wellness - (led by the school counselor), service learning, and a dynamic number of co-curricular activities driven by student choice, where passion and interest lead students to explore interests such as athletics, book club, design, coding, service learning, public speaking, dance, and student council.

We look forward to welcoming you on the MS journey!
