ISH is a non-profit organization formally managed and sponsored by the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), also a not-for-profit organization. This set-up provides the school with the status of a school administered by a foreign/consular mission.
ISH was founded in 1972 . The first IGCSE Cambridge Exams was administered in 2003 and the first IB Diploma was given in 2007. The first cohort of IB students graduated from ISH in June 2007.
ISH is very proud to have been the first school in India to receive international accreditation from the Council of International Schools(CIS) and continues to be accredited by CIS and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges(NEASC). ISH is also the first school in Andhra Pradesh to be authorized to offer the IB diploma.
ISH also has the accreditation from Cambridge International Education(CIE), International Baccalaureate Organization(IBO), UK Department for Education and Skills(DfES) , University of Cambridge local examinations Syndicate. ISH has memberships with Near East South Asian Council of Overseas Schools (NESA) and The Association of International Schools of India(TAISI).
ISH is a English medium Co-Educational day school that provides education for children between the ages of 18 months to 18 years. At present our student body consists of 256 students from over 23 different countries. The majority of the students at ISH are from abroad. That said, ISH is able to admit a limited number of Indian citizens. Over 34 % of the ISH staff is International coming on from 12 different Countries. This is really a unique features which applies to only ISH. The average tenure of our teachers are more than five(5) years. The range being five to fifteen years of working at ISH. Student faculty ratio is less than 1:6. The school preferred class size is 15.
In terms of student nationalities for 2012/2013 the breakdown is as follows: USA-37.5%, India-20.7%, France-10%, UK-6%,Australia-5%, Korea-5%.The rest of the students are from countries like Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Canada etc.
ISH focuses on preparing students for university abroad and indeed almost all our students go to prestigious universities abroad. Most attend universities in the United States that have competitive admission requirement.
ISH believes that each student is unique. To achieve these aims the school takes an individualized and personalized approach to learning. Our aim is to encourage each student to not only strive to achieve academic excellence but to also aspire towards becoming a socially aware and responsible individual who is well equipped to excel in a global society.
