Facilities at the International School of Hyderabad
The International School of Hyderabad (ISH) has now moved all its facilities from the premises of the ICRISAT Social Club in Banjara Hills to the main ICRISAT campus in North-Western direction from the city at the end of the hi-tech corridor on the Bombay highway. The main ICRISAT campus where the school is now located is next to the village of Patancheru.
These new facilities provide ISH with a double-set of security. The whole of ICRISAT is secured by perimeter walls. The school campus has a second set of perimeter walls around it.
Safety & security are top priorities of the school. The main ICRISAT campus where ISH is located has its own fire station and its own medical unit with a full-time physician. In addition to this medical unit, ISH employs a full-time nurse in its own facilities.
The Secondary School occupies purpose-built premises on the ICRISAT campus that were completed in 2007. The Secondary School was designed to foster communication and promote a harmonious relationship with nature. More on the philosophy of the architecture may be found by clicking here.
Construction is nearly complete on a Multi-Purpose Hall (MPH). The MPH will serve as an indoor athletic hall and an auditorium. The MPH will also house a music room with two separate practice rooms to support the music programme.
The Elementary School is temporarily housed in a pre-existing building on the ICRISAT campus. In September of 2009, ISH broke ground on a new Elementary School building. Part of that building is expected to be ready in August for the start of the 2010-2011 school year. The whole of the new Elementary School building should be complete within the 2010-2011 school year.
In 2009, the school built a canteen in the style of a pavilion. That canteen is located between the Secondary School and the site of the new Elementary School.
In 2010, work started on a track field facility with running track and other practice areas.
The main ICRISAT campus stretches for 1,500 hectars/3,600 acres. Its location on the ICRISAT campus provides students with extraordinary access to nature. The ICRISAT campus includes forests and lakes.
Its location on the ICRISAT campus also provides students with a most unusual learning environment, with science labs, a museum, a medieval fort, and a weather station all on the ICRISAT campus. On the ICRISAT campus, ISH students enjoy the use of a large outdoor swimming pool, outdoor basketball and volleyball courts, outdoor tennis courts, and a number of sports fields. There is also a golf driving range and a fitness centre.
