The International School of Hyderabad is a non-profit school, sponsored and managed by ICRISAT – The International Crop Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropic (www.icrisat.org) with headquarters in Patancheru. Founded in 1982, our mission is to provide a high-quality education based on best educational practices from around the world.

ISH is seeking energetic and highly-motivated teachers with a commitment to the children they teach and to their own professional development. The school requires teachers with strong academic backgrounds who have the highest academic and behavioral expectations of their students. We need teachers who will make contributions beyond the confines of the classroom in extra curricular activities, school events and committees. We especially seek teachers who encourage their students to become independent and creative thinkers with a strong sense of responsibility for themselves, for others and for their environment.

To summarize, we are seeking dedicated teachers who will be excellent role models for our students - teachers with intelligence, integrity, vision, adaptability and, of course, a sense of humor.

Teacher Appraisal at ISH

The Framework for Teaching, Charlotte Danielson

An effective system of teacher evaluation accomplishes two things: it ensures quality teaching and it promotes professional learning. The quality of teaching is the single most important determinant of student learning.  The Framework for Teaching provides a foundation that is rigorous, valid, reliable, and defensible, and must be grounded in a research-based and accepted definition of good teaching.

The ‘Framework for Teaching’ is a research-based set of components of instruction and grounded in a constructivist view of learning and teaching. In this framework, the complex activity of teaching is divided into 22 components clustered into four domains of teaching responsibility: planning and preparation (Domain 1), classroom environment (Domain 2), instruction (Domain 3), and professional responsibilities (Domain 4). Each component defines a distinct aspect of a domain. Levels of teaching performance (rubrics) describe each component and provide a roadmap for improvement of teaching. Its full value is realized as the foundation for professional conversations among practitioners as they seek to enhance their skill in the complex task of teaching.
