While English is the language of instruction at ISH the school allows for students to speak in their mother tongue and aspires to multilingualism. The school is committed to encouraging students to learn as many languages as possible. ISH validates the equal status of all languages. It endorses an awareness of the host country’s culture and language throughout the school. The modern foreign languages programme develops understanding and respect for other cultures.
To help students learn other languages, ISH offers “foreign” languages options in the Elementary school and the Secondary school. Spanish and French are offered from Grade 4 to Grade 12, while Spanish is also taught in Grade 3. Grades 1 and 2 take a Host Culture subject, which will include Hindi language learning.
