Leadership Team

The formal responsibility of managing ISH lies with ICRISAT. The Director General of ICRISAT has delegated the day to day operation of ISH to the Head of School. ICRISAT has created an Advisory Board to guide the Principal in managing the school.

The school is divided into Elementary School and  Secondary School divisions.

The Elementary School comprises Toddler till Grade 5 (18 months till 12 year old students).  Secondary School comprises Grade 6-12 (12 to 18 year old Students). This is divided into two divisions: Middle School (Grade 6 to 8) and High School (Grade 9 to 12).


Dr. Oli Tooher-Hancock

Oli is a British/Irish national with over 25 years experience in education and leadership, 22 years of which have been in IB international schools in Spain, China, Japan, Sri Lanka and Peru. She holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University in the U.S.

Oli taught IGCSE, and IBDP History for many years and was an IB Diploma Coordinator for 10 years in the Asia Region. She has been a secondary principal an assistant head of school in two international schools and this is her first headship. She has experience leading curriculum and professional development, whole school community service and experience with CIS, WASC, MSA and NEASC accreditation as well as IB authorization visits. Oli is a Board member for the Association for the Advancement of International Education (AAIE) and a PTC Trainer.

Mr. Andrew Nicholson

Director of Teaching and Learning

Andrew is Australian by birth – but international in outlook. He joined ISH in August 2015, having previously been working in international schools in Sudan, Peru, Sri Lanka, Romania, Qatar, and Australia.

Andrew obtained his BSc degree many years ago in Melbourne – and was an aspiring marine biologist. He subsequently worked in hospitality, traveled for a year and gained the realisation that education was more of a passion. He returned to university to complete his Graduate Diploma. Andrew has completed several leadership courses – including the Certificate of International School Leadership from the PTC; worked as an IBDP Biology examiner for many years; and held positions in previous schools such as Head of Department (Science and Maths), Activities Coordinator, IB Coordinator, and Curriculum Coordinator.

Andrew is also an avid coach/player of many sports, and also enjoys working with students in service learning activities and drama productions.


Ms. Lily Nair

Head of Secondary

Lily joined ISH in 1996 and has served the school in various capacities. She took on the Divisional Principal’s role in 2010. Apart from a teaching degree, she also holds a post graduate degree in history. Lily has been actively involved in the school’s growth and development through participation in the accreditation and authorization processes for CIS and IB, formulating curriculum and reworking policies with the leadership team. Lily has been teaching both IGCSE and IBDP history over the years. She has been to several workshops and conferences conducted by TAISI, IB and NESA. She is also a recipient of the Certificate of International Schools Leadership from PTC, Miami.


Mrs. Sunita Verghese

Head of Elementary

Sunita has over 23 years of teaching and 6 years of school management experience. Prior to joining ISH in 1996, she has been teaching in many reputed schools all over the country ever since 1981. In her long career, she has been exposed to a broad spectrum of skill sets such as teaching, curriculum design, music and drama, school management and administration, accreditation processes.

Apart from having a teaching degree and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Women’s Christian College, Chennai, she has also a teaching certificate in the Montessori method of teaching. She also has a Post Graduate Diploma Certificate in Travel and Tourism.

Sunita has attended several workshops and conferences held by organisations such as the IBO, AERO,TTC and TAISI. She has been awarded the Certificate of International School Leadership from the Principals Training Centre in Miami.



Mrs. Rahmat Kareem

Rahmat is an Indian national, born & brought up in Saudi Arabia. She has 13 years of experience in the world of education; teaching and leading. After 6 years in Saudi Arabia she has been continuing her journey since 2008 in ISH. She holds a Master’s in Mathematics and Bachelor’s in Education.

Leadership roles Rahmat has held; IGCSE Coordinator and Head of Department (Math & ICT). She is an IB examiner and trained to be an accreditation visiting team member for Council of International Schools (CIS). She has also served as a College Counselor and ICT teacher/mentor for a year at ISH. Rahmat has taught various curricula – IB, IGCSE, A-level & SAT. Just to mention a few of her initiatives as Department Head at ISH; Math fair, Pi-day, inter-disciplinary projects, introduced tech-integration in Math and revised the Middle school Math programme.

Apart from being involved in service learning projects, Rahmat enjoys sports and loves to travel & explore.


Mrs. Meera Sampath Kumar

IBDP Coordinator/Teacher

Meera joined ISH in 2008 as the IB/IGCSE English teacher and later on appointed as CAS coordinator for a brief stint in addition to teaching high school. Since 2012, she has taken charge as the DP Coordinator, alongside imparting English and Theory of Knowledge at the high school. She is also the HOD of English Department and Site Based Coordinator (SBC) at ISH for the courses offered through Pamoja Education. Meera holds a Master’s in English Literature and a Bachelor’s in Education with about 22 years of teaching experience.

Meera has successfully conducted the five year review of the IB Diploma Programme and been in charge of the high school productions. She is driven by the objective that a teacher’s role is to facilitate learning by providing a conducive atmosphere that will eventually guide students to lead their own learning. She constantly aims to instill mutual respect and understanding for others’ perspectives which is a part of the fabric of her classroom culture.
